OUR WINES

CHÂTEAU MARIE DU FOU

Chateau Marie de Fou is the family estate. This powerful Domain, which has witnessed the volatile events throughout French history – from the 100-year war to the French Revolution –now sits peacefully on its 96 hectares of precious vineyards.

The red and white wines are produced and aged in oak barrels, whilst the rosé wine is aged in steel vats. The Chateau Marie du Fou wines are an authentic reflection of our family’s tradition and knowledge. It is a Domaine in the process of converting to organic production

CLOS SAINT ANDRÉ

Clos Saint André started out as a childhood dream for Jeremie Mourat. It began as a blank canvas on a historically rich wine-growing land previously owned by the Tattinger Family, and had laid under a thick covering of brambles and broom since 1968.

With its rich sub soil of meta-rhyolites, Clos Saint André is almost exclusively dedicated to the production of a full-bodied white wine.

Since 2007 we have focused on using a selection of Negrette vines – an ancient black grape variety unique to the region – for our Grenouilliere vintage which is our flagship wine of our ‘Grande Cuvée de Garde’.

This domain has been in organic production since 2006.

MOULIN BLANC

The symbolic windmill which was burnt down during the Vendée wars and has recently been fully restored overlooks the vineyard on its hillside landscape. Mostly made up of old Pinot Noir vines, Moulin Blanc benefits from the rich clay land which helps increase the maturity of the Pinot Noirs in order to preserve their freshness.

This has resulted in a wine with a rich and fruity freshness. This domain has been engaged in organic production since 2011.

LE GRAND ÉCART

Influence by a hot, yet moderate climate, tempered with a sea breeze, Chenin has been grown here since the 17th century on the red soils consisting of gravelly clay. South African Stellenboche is a magnificent wine-producing region where the old Chenin vines are driven by a ‘bush’ vine to protect them from fertiliser sprays. The harvesting is done manually and the wine is matured in oak casks.
